2014.05 UPM University researchers have made an energy saving study
-
The researchers of Madrid Polytechnic University (UPM) have made a study that reveals a significant improvement in energy saving and efficiency thanks to the use of highly efficient air curtains.
That thanks to the use of highly efficient air curtains is possible to obtain a significant improvement in energy saving and efficiency. This study has analysed in depth the improvement of hygrothermal conditions and also the energy saving. The study has been published in the journal “Energy and Buildings”.
This experimental study has been done in a commercial premise located in Javea, in eastern Spain where the weather is warm and humid.
This local air-conditioning system has been done by direct expansion Cassette splits. The study analysed the air conditions and its energetic cost in the following situations: without an air curtain, with conventional air curtain and with a high efficiency air curtain.
Finally this study proves that the use of conventional air curtains doesn’t give a significant advantage but the use of high efficiency air curtain could get higher energy savings over 30%.
